March 8, 2024 is International Women’s Day. The theme this year is “Count Her In: Invest in Women. Accelerate Progress.” The United Nations officially recognized International Women’s Day as a global event in 1975, but the day’s roots go back to 1908 when female workers in the United States protested for better hours, better pay, and voting rights.
Though we’ve made a lot of progress over the last 100 years, women around the world are still fighting for recognition, equal rights with men, and equal opportunities.
International Women’s Day is the one day a year to pause and declare “Women’s rights are human rights!”.
Investing in myself and in other women is a core value for me. That’s why I teach both science and cooking through my cookbook, blog posts, and cooking classes. And that’s why I have held workshops through the Newfoundland and Labrador Organization of Women Entrepreneurs (NLOWE) and contribute thought pieces to their quarterly magazine.
Want to count yourself in for one of my cooking classes?
