Saying goodbye to Java Jack’s Restaurant & Gallery

New ownership for restaurant

Starting May 1, 2024, Java Jacks Restaurant will be under new ownership. Mandy Payne and who was the General Manager at Java Jack’s Restaurant & Gallery for the last few years and her husband, Steve Payne has purchased our restaurant business, JJ’s Café Inc. (2015) from Les and me and they are the new owners of Java Jack’s Restaurant & Gallery. Mandy is the managing director and General Manager.

Mandy and I worked together for some 5 years. She’s energetic, smart, service oriented and a keen life learner ready to maintain Java Jack’s high standards with delicious dishes, upscaling Newfoundland traditions while bringing in new ideas that are in step with the changing times.

f

Good luck to Mandy and Steve.  Thank you for your support over the last eight years and ask for your unwavering support for them as you supported me and Les.  I know Mandy (and Steve) will provide great food, wonderful service and hospitality in the true Java Jack’s way.  I am so proud that someone, especially Mandy, who is homegrown is advancing herself in business.

A new beginning...

Every goodbye is also a new beginning…

My focus will now be on expanding the Java Jack’s Gourmet Fine Foods business into other markets.  You can still get it in and around the province in gift stores and local retailers such as Sobeys, Dominion and Colemans.

I’ll be focusing on consulting for the food industry helping companies, big and small, advance their innovative product development and operational objectives and participating in the enhancement of local food security and infrastructure. I am serving on the board of Directors of the Atlantic Canada Food and Beverage Association, so I’ll be able spend some time giving back.

I also want to reach as many people as possible about how to use food science to create fantastic meals again and again and again. You can expect the same great content in my blog, my cooking classes, my workshops, and more!

I’ll still be busy, having some fun, making and inspiring others too to make great food again and again and again.  Stay tuned.

Bon Appetit!

Colleen
